Articulated starfish fidget. This one is another practice in taking pre-existing components and manipulating them to create a new object.

These fidget toys have been really fun to make! I restrict myself to printing without supports usually.

Most days I end up making more than one thing. Sometimes I’m pretty proud of them, but they don’t get included. Being lazy with practice, I’ll sometimes opt for an easy project to complete and post, rather than waiting and posting something I really like. Below is a rack and pinion spring fidget looking at the bottom side. Gears have been a fun challenge. I don’t know much about tolerances, but I think gears require some math if I want them optimized. Usually I just eyeball.

Again, love making things print in place without assembly. It’s so much fun to see these things work out.
